Update: Details About Suspicious Death In Westchester County Revealed By Police

More details regarding an investigation into a suspicious death in Northern Westchester that shuttered a road for hours have been released by police.

The incident, which happened on Tuesday, Jan. 24 in Yorktown in the area of 3270-3290 North Deerfield Ave., is believed to be a suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Yorktown Police announced on Wednesday, Jan. 25 around 1 p.m. 

This determination is based on numerous interviews, videos, and evidence collected from the scene. However, authorities are still waiting on an official ruling on the death from the Office of the Westchester County Medical Examiner.

The person who died will not be identified by police out of respect for their family, police said. 

Yorktown Police thanked numerous police departments across Westchester County for their assistance with the investigation, as well as the residents of North Deerfield Avenue for their patience and concern. 

The investigation and police activity impacted traffic on the road for a number of hours. There is no identified danger to residents of the area, police added.
